About Us
Our Own House strives to create a long-lasting living space for adults with developmental disabilities in Peterborough, NH. Many people are aware of the housing crisis in our area. The even further marginalized community of adults with developmental disabilities is a crisis seldom considered outside families who care for special needs family members. Our current larger systems of governance have ignored the needs for housing and therefore the local governing bodies and organizations like Our Own House must address the issue.
In New Hampshire, the scarcity of affordable and supportive housing for adults with developmental disabilities is a significant challenge. We established Our Own House to address this issue, making sure these individuals receive recognition, value, and care in a safe and loving environment.
In January 2024, regional parents and advocates of adults with developmental disabilities met and have created Our Own House to address housing insecurity in the Monadnock region.
As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, donations to Our Own House are tax-exempt.
Our Own House complies with all 501(c)(3) rules and regulations.
